Question 7

Is there Any Aftercare or Steps or Precautions I Should Adopt After Hair Transplant?

Accepted Answer

Hair transplant is one of the safest procedures and when done at Cosmetic Expert Clinic Islamabad, rest assured you are at Pakistan's best hair transplantation clinic. Though your dedicated hair transplant manager will guide you thoroughly after your hair transplant and will also get you some notes, still there are few things that you should be careful:

Days 1–3
• No touching, scratching, or rubbing the transplanted area
• Sleep with head elevated (30–45°) to reduce swelling
• No washing the scalp until cleared by the clinic (typically day 2–3, and even then it's a gentle, clinic-directed rinse, not a normal shower)
• Avoid bending over or lying flat
• Mild swelling on the forehead is common and usually peaks around day 3

Days 4–7
• Gentle scalp washing begins under clinic guidance — usually a specific technique (light dabbing, not rubbing) with a mild shampoo they provide or recommend
• Tiny scabs form around each graft — these must be left alone to fall off naturally, never picked
• No direct sun exposure on the scalp
• No exercise, sweating, or raising heart rate significantly

Days 8–14
• Scabs typically shed naturally by day 10–14
• Normal (gentle) hair washing usually resumes
• Light activity can often resume, but strenuous exercise, gym, swimming, and sauna typically stay off-limits until around week 3–4
• No alcohol or smoking — both are consistently flagged as impairing graft healing and blood flow to the follicles
• Avoid tight hats, helmets, or anything that rubs the scalp

Please note: Some transplanted hairs may shed in this window ("shock loss") — this is expected, not a sign of failure; new growth takes months, not weeks.

Question 8

What Are Some Lifestyle Fashion Habits I Need to Alter After My Hair Transplant?

Accepted Answer

Throughout the first two weeks, generally avoid:
• Alcohol and smoking
• Strenuous exercise or activities causing heavy sweating
• Direct sun exposure without protection
• Swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms
• Any pressure, scratching, or friction on the grafted area
• Coloring or chemically treating hair
• Sleeping on the stomach/side (elevated, back-sleeping recommended early on)
